Summary
Remote Sensing (RS) is providing archaeologist with such quantity and complexity of information that visual interpretation of such data is no longer possible without further knowledge and simplification. The main purpose of this thesis is to define standard workflow of archaeological cropmarks enhancement and detection using Airborne Imaging Spectroscopy (AIS) and Airborne Laser Scanning (ALS). Several new image processing techniques will be investigated in order to assess the potential of AIS. A data fusion of AIS and AHS is expected to provide optimal mix of 2D and 3D data to aid visual interpretation and semi-automatic segmentation and classification of cropmarks. Several novel approaches like object-based classification using geomorphological attributes on very high resolution ALS and AIS data will be evaluated and quantified.
